will be helpful for those in need Im trying to save two dates into a serialized . bin file. I use the Calendar class to get the current date then I add 30 days onto it. So I try to save two date variables fd (First Date) and ed (Expiration Date). If I change them to Strings in the expiration_date_serial file they work, but when I try to save them as Date they throw errors on these 2 lines: , tl;dr
code :
LocalDate.now( ZoneId.of( "America/Montreal" ) )
         .plusDays( 30 )
         .toString()
ZoneId z = ZoneId.of( "America/Montreal" );
LocalDate today = LocalDate.now( z );
String output = today.toString();  // 2016-10-23
LocalDate ld = LocalDate.parse( "2016-10-23" );
LocalDate thirtyDaysAgo = ld.minusDays( 30 );
LocalDate oneMonthAgo = ld.minusMonths( 1 );

I wish this help you You can add database columns for the data you want to save about your file. When you write a file to the database, put this information into the columns. When you read, change file properties according to the data from columns.

This might help you I have an Xml schema, CustomerData.xsd, that I use Microsoft's xsd.exe to create the class CustomerData. , Making minimal changes to your code:
code :
// Get the data that the customer has entered
TextReader textReader = new StreamReader(fileName);

// Create the validating reader
XmlReader schemaReader = XmlReader.Create(schemaStream);
XmlReaderSettings settings = new XmlReaderSettings();
settings.Schemas.Add(null, schemaReader);
settings.ValidationType = ValidationType.Schema;
var documentReader = XmlReader.Create(textReader, settings);

// Use the validating reader to read
try
{
    while (documentReader.Read())
    {
    }
}
catch (XmlSchemaValidationException ex)
{
    //do logging or whatever here
}
 // Get the data that the customer has entered
TextReader textReader = new StreamReader(fileName);

// Create an XmlDocument to read the data
XmlDocument xmlDocument = new XmlDocument();

// Attach the schema to the XmlDocument
xmlDocument.Schemas = new XmlSchemaSet();
xmlDocument.Schemas.Add(null, new XmlTextReader(schemaStream));

// Load the document and validate it
xmlDocument.Load(textReader);
List<String> errors = new List<String>();
xmlDocument.Validate((sender, eventArgs) => errors.Add(eventArgs.Message));
// the errors list will now contain a list of schema errors

it helps some times mysql doesn't save arrays, it saves strings. When saving an array it is by design that it serializes the array into a string.
If you are using MySql 5.7.8 or later you can use the JSON data type.
