Entity Framework "Cannot insert explicit value for for identity column"

this one helps. I assume that the sourceField with sourceFieldId=28 that appears in your JSON already exists and you don't want to insert it, right? And your parent entity is not attached to the context because you just filled it from the JSON (you didn't fetch it from the database context).
It seems that the EF tracking state of your child SourceField entity is not correctly set as Unchanged or Modified, but as Added. This is the kind of problem that you get when dealing with entity graphs in disconnected scenarios. You can fix this by using GraphDiff, which goes through your children tree and makes sure the status of each children is correctly set. Or you could either implement this yourself and manually update the tracking states in your children.

it helps some times I have run into this before. This error means you are trying to assign a value explicitly to a column where the database automatically assigns it.
Suggestion: Update your edmx file to reflect any changes you may have made in the database. If the database automatically assigns the value, you should see the "IsDbGenerated=true" attribute in your designer file under that property. If it's not there, you can add it manually.

I think the issue was by ths following , Entities that have a 1 to 1 relationship should have the same value in the primary key. That means that the primary key in the dependent should also be a foreign key to the principal, and should not be an identity field.
You should change your tables in line with that requirement so that EF can insert the Inspection object then take its new ID and insert that value into the Sites table as the foreign key/primary key.

wish of those help The error clearly states that You are trying to insert a value in the IDENTITY Column but you cannot insert value to an IDENTITY Column which in your case is Payment_ID of PaymentSalesOrder table. IDENTITY Column autogenerates its value when you insert a new row by incrementing by INCREMENT value provided, in your case is 1. What I mean to say is whenever you insert a new row the value of Payment_ID will insert automatically starting from 1 and will keep incrementing by 1 for each new row.
You can get more informatin on IDENTITY here.

like below fixes the issue The [ForeignKey] attibutes are pointing to wrong property for Dugout and ConferenceDetails. Should be ForeignKey("DugoutId") and ForeignKey("ConferenceDetailsId").
