By : Losty
Date : March 29 2020, 07:55 AM
this will help This looks more like a true list comprehension way to do what you want...
code :
def isfloat(string):
    try:
        float(string)
        return True
    except:
        return False

[float(item) for s in mylist for item in s.split() if isfloat(item)]
#[10000.0, 5398.38770002321]

help you fix your problem If you want to replace specific text in a file a suggest the use of the module fileinput:
code :
import fileinput

for line in fileinput.input('filename', inplace=True):
    # do what you need to do and then just print:
    print line.replace('1234', '24')

replacing float to double via whole project

like below fixes the issue
So the question if I change through entire project float to double could this cause any unpredictable behavior or not ? If so can you provide any example that can produce a problem ?
code :
Float.toString((double) 1.0f);
public static List<Float> testIt() {
    List<Float> al = new ArrayList<Float>();
    al.add(1.0f);
    return al;
}

public static void main(String[] args) {
    List<?> al = testIt();
    for (int i = 0; i < al.size(); i++) {
        Object o = al.get(i);
        Double v = (Double) o;
        System.out.println(v);
    }
}

will be helpful for those in need Open both files and write each line sequentially while incrementing line counter. Condition for line 11 to replace the float number. Rest of the lines are written without modifications:
code :
with open("CopyFile.txt", "w") as newfile:
    with open("OrigFile.txt") as myfile:
        linecounter = 1
        for line in myfile:
            if linecounter == 11:
                newline = re.sub("^(\d+\.\d+)", "<new number>", line)
                linecounter += 1
                outfile.write(newline)
            else:
                newfile.write(line)
                linecounter += 1
