git reset resulting in changes to both working directory and stage

git reset resulting in changes to both working directory and stage

this one helps. This kind of reset:
does not affect HEAD itself or the current branch (so it's not the same as any of git reset --hard, git reset --mixed, or git reset --soft); does affect the contents of the index; does not affect the contents of the work-tree.
code :
git reset HEAD path/to/file
X [bad commit, now shoved out of the way]
            /
...--o--o--@ <-- branch

it fixes the issue From your git diff feedback, it seems to be an EOL issue. Windows uses \r\n, while Linux uses \n. See core.eol, core.safecrlf and core.autocrlf settings in git-config(1).

I hope this helps you . git can only restore things that it tracks, so there wouldn't be a way to have it restore your modules to where they were. I take it your package.json doesn't specify the entire version for each module?
If you've deployed this project anywhere, you could get the modules there and see what version they are. You might even be able to scp them down to your development environment.

seems to work fine Removing from the stage doesn't destroy the instance, so when you come back to the stage (with addChild() ) your old values are intact. But if you re-instantiate then the initial values belong to the new instance.

I wish this helpful for you The issue is that even though the working directory contains the server's newest update, the index and history in the local git directory is not updated.
I don't think this is the best solution, but in the server's working directory, I could sync to the latest update.

should help you out The git stash command violates some of the normal generally-applicable rules about Git, but in ways that eventually turn out to be mostly unsurprising. Let's take a little side trip to review things you probably already know, but may not have actually recognized as significant. After that, let's look at what git stash does.
Git is mainly about commits
code :
a123456 <-- master
... <-3c39aef <-a123456 <-- master
... <-a123456 <-b789abc <-- master
...--G--H <-- master
...--G--H <-- master
        |
        i
...--G--H <-- master
        |\
        i-w
...--G--H <-- master
        |\
        i-w <-- refs/stash
