The first is to, as you allude to, use @Formula - without the other annotations you have on there, just using @Formula. This should do exactly what you expect.

I hope this helps you . You can use .setResultTransformer(CriteriaSpecification.DISTINCT_ROOT_ENTITY) on the criteria.
code :
List ordersAndProducts = session.createCriteria(Order.class)
    .setResultTransformer(CriteriaSpecification.DISTINCT_ROOT_ENTITY)
    .setFetchMode(“products”,FetchMode.JOIN)
    .add(Restrictions.eq(“id”,”1234”))
    .list();

wish helps you You could use @ElementCollection for having a List of related aliases without the need to map the whole entity:
code :
@ElementCollection
@CollectionTable(name = "customer_alias", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "customer_id") )
@Column(name = "alias")
private List<String> aliases;

code :
SELECT
recipe.recipe_name
FROM

INNER JOIN daily_diet_plan as brkfast ON (brkfast.breakfast = recipe.recipe_ID)
