help you fix your problem uuid is a function, that you can use on its own without having to write select.
code :
INSERT INTO `posts`(`post_id`, `user_id`, `content`, `time`) VALUES (uuid(),1,'my content',mytime)

Does that help My instructions are to call a function when passing variables into an insert statement to prevent code injection. What does the following code do and what actually gets inserted into the database? Why doesn't this have a value statement and it appears to have a select inside the insert? , When using an INSERT there are two ways:
code :
INSERT INTO yourTable (col1, col2)
VALUES (val1, val2)
INSERT INTO yourTable (col1, col2)
SELECT col1, col2
FROM table1
INSERT INTO TWHSurvey_QA (Comment, QuestionID, SurveyID, Rank)
SELECT
    If statement to decide the comment value
    , QuestionId
    , SurveyID
    , If statement to decide the Rank value

fixed the issue. Will look into that further If the datatypes and your example sql etc. are correct (and there is a hashtag returned by the select) then the following should work (remove the id in the insert into statement)
code :
INSERT INTO rss (hashtag,total)
SELECT
  hashtag,
  SUM(count) AS total
FROM `trending_topics`
WHERE lang=0
  AND hashtag !=     ''
  AND date >= date_sub(left(now(), 10), interval 1 day)
GROUP BY hashtag order by total desc;
Is there a way to issue next (like INSERT) mysql statment inside the mysql_fetch_row() loop?

To fix the issue you can do Turns out uuid() is generating a different uuid per row.
But instead of generating all the chunks randomly, as I would normally expect, MySql appears to only be generating the 2nd chunk randomly. Presumably to be more efficient.
